Emma Heming Opens Up About Bruce Willis’ Front-Temporal Dementia Diagnosis

Bruce Willis turns 69 and receives emotional congratulations from his wife

Emma Heming, the wife of Bruce Willis, recently revealed how the diagnosis of front-temporal dementia that afflicts the famous actor, who rose to fame for the ‘Die Hard’ film saga, among others, affected her and her family.

During a talk with the Frontemporal Degeneration Association Heming said that announcing the news took a great weight off his shoulders. “Revealing this publicly actually opened a lot of doors and ended up allowing me resources that I didn’t seem to have before in terms of taking care of Bruce,” he said.

In addition, he gave details about how the disease progresses and whether the actor is conscious. In the interview, she said she wasn’t sure “how aware Bruce is of his surroundings these days.” She, in turn, admitted that this situation “really puts the severity of it into perspective.”

Despite his statements, Heming said that he has all the love and support of his family and fans, who hope that everything will improve and the situation can change.

In 2009, former model and businesswoman Emma Heming Willis married Bruce Willis on a paradise Turkish island. They both have two daughters from their relationship: Evelyn and Mabel. Also, the actor shares three daughters with his ex-wife, Demi Moore: Rumer Willis, Scout Willis and Tallulah Willis.

Both families have always remained united and usually show support for each other, especially in the condition that the artist suffers from: “Bruce has always found joy in life and has helped everyone he knows to do the same. “It has meant to the world to see that sense of care reflected in him and in all of us.”

Willis’ family members reported in 2022 that the actor was primarily diagnosed with aphasia, a condition that makes it difficult to express, write and read, according to MedlinePlus.

However, one of his daughters, Rumer Willis, revealed that doctors now say it is a case of FTD. “Bruce’s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia. Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just a symptom of the disease,” a statement published by several entertainment news outlets reported at the time.

According to the Mayo Clinic, “frontotemporal dementia is a general term for a group of brain disorders that primarily affect the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain.”

This can be misdiagnosed as a psychiatric problem or Alzheimer’s disease. However, this condition tends to occur at a younger age. Among the symptoms indicated by the entity are inappropriate behavior, decreased personal hygiene, hesitancy when speaking, difficulty reading and understanding written messages, among others.
