Fabric qorn, a designer brand founded in 2019, has made waves in the fashion world with its focus on Chinese retro style. During the 2024 Autumn and Winter Shanghai Fashion Week, the brand unveiled its new autumn and winter series inspired by “The Past of Urban Village”. Drawing inspiration from traditional villages within urban areas, the collection tells the unique stories of urban villages in Shanghai, Xi’an, Wuhan, and beyond.
The designers at fabric qorn have taken a hands-on approach to this collection, conducting field visits to urban villages to gather pictures and information. At the launch exhibition, these findings will be presented in the form of installations, creating a familiar yet intriguing urban village space.
Urban villages are a common phenomenon in China’s urbanization process, representing the dual characteristics of urban and rural areas. The brand’s iconic tunic suits are reimagined with urban village elements, creating a fresh and contemporary look. Retro jackets, Chinese skirts, and tunic dresses are updated with details like work sleeves and punk rivets, reflecting the spirit of the “new town youth”. Fabric qorn’s latest collection is a nod to the past while embracing the present, offering a unique and stylish take on urban village fashion.
