Chén Sifān Redefines Disorder in Latest Autumn/Winter Collection
In the fashion world, the concept of “disorder” has been reimagined by Chén Sifān in their latest 2024 autumn and winter series. The brand, known for portraying the gentle and restrained side of masculinity, presented a collection that showcased a timid explosion hidden under reason and restraint.
The collection featured misplaced pockets pinned to the shoulders like brooches and touches of red breaking the calm appearance of formal dresses. The exquisite clothing structure was intentionally disrupted by the addition of a withered red patent leather belt, adding a sense of chaos to the otherwise structured pieces.
“Red” was the dominant color in the show, described by Chén Sifān as symbolizing “sensual sexiness.” The color was used to convey an emotion or power waiting to be released, gradually losing control and ultimately being unleashed like entropy.
Breaking free from traditional definitions of masculinity, Chén Sifān’s collection aimed to celebrate the warm and fluid qualities of humanity. The brand sought to blend seemingly opposite qualities such as “rational” and “emotional,” “refined” and “rough,” and “fragile” and “strong,” to showcase the coexistence of chaos and calm within individuals.
Founded by designer Chen Sifan in 2023, the brand has been on a mission to break gender boundaries and promote the idea that every unique individual should be respected and have their needs met. With a background in cultural studies from prestigious institutions like Central Saint Martins and the New York Fashion Institute of Technology, Chen Sifan brings a Chinese charm to the brand’s concept of “you are you.”
