Fan Wei Wins Best Actor at Beijing Film Festival for “Morning Clouds and Mud Rain”

Fan Wei was recently awarded the prestigious “Tiantan Award” for Best Actor at the 14th Beijing International Film Festival for his outstanding performance in the movie “Morning Cloud and Muyu”. The award was a significant achievement for Fan Wei, marking his return to the spotlight after seven years.

Directed by Zhang Guoli, “Morning Clouds and Mud Rain” tells the story of Lao Qin, portrayed by Fan Wei, who after serving 30 years in prison, seeks to start a new life by getting married. The film also stars Zhou Dongyu and is adapted from the true story “The Murderous Girl in a Wedding Dress”. The movie is set for nationwide release on May 17.

Following the film’s screening at the Beijing International Film Festival, director Zhang Guoli and actor Zhou Dongyu engaged with the audience, shedding light on the complex characters and themes explored in the movie. Zhang Guoli described the characters of Lao Qin and Chang Juan as “very purposeful”, delving into the hidden depths of their personalities.

In an effort to present a realistic portrayal of life, the cast and crew of “Morning Clouds and Mud Rain” aimed to showcase the raw and authentic aspects of human existence. Zhou Dongyu, who plays Chang Juan, emphasized the importance of naturalistic performances in the film.
