The fifth Hunan, Guizhou, and Guangxi border area ethnic folk song gathering was recently held at the Dujuan Cottage in the passage. The event brought together over 500 folk song singers, enthusiasts, and people from multi-ethnic areas such as Longsheng in Guangxi, Liping in Guizhou, Tongdao, Suining, and Jingzhou in Hunan.

The border areas of these three provinces are rich in ethnic diversity, with this year marking the 90th anniversary of the Long March of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army. The event, themed “The Red Army’s Long March to Pursue Dreams, Gathering at the Cuckoo Thatched Cottage,” aimed to celebrate this historic event and highlight the unity of the nation.

Participants from various ethnic groups, including Dong, Miao, Yao, and Han, gathered at the Azalea Thatched Cottage on the Long March Road, showcasing their cultural heritage through traditional folk songs. The event served as a meaningful platform for fostering cultural exchange, promoting unity among different ethnic groups, and paying tribute to the heroic spirit of the Long March.

Reflecting on her experience at the event, Yuan Liting, a Yao girl from Longsheng, Guangxi, expressed her appreciation for the sense of unity and camaraderie that the folk song festival fostered. The gathering not only celebrated the rich cultural diversity of the region but also highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting traditional folk music.

Overall, the fifth ethnic folk song gathering in the border areas of Hunan, Guizhou, and Guangxi provinces was a success, bringing together individuals from different backgrounds to celebrate their shared cultural heritage and strengthen inter-ethnic solidarity.
