Genius Loci in Recanati The Colle dell’Infinito, Leopardi’s temple of Silence, is one of the most mysteriously evocative places in the world. Not only because there Leopardi drew inspiration to compose the most famous poem in the world, but also because that place (of which the wonderful Orto delle Monache is part) evokes the Genius loci of a village, Recanati, which has in itself the seed of creativity (Beniamino Gigli was born here, also here began the adventure of Guzzini, a design company that has made Italy famous throughout the world).

Since 1996, Musicultura has been organizing Lunaria in Recanati, in Piazza Leopardi and in the Orto del Colle dell’Infinito (managed by FAI), a festival of afternoon and night concerts that tell the art of writing, the complex relationship between song and poetry and finally, that Genius Loci which generated one of the greatest European cultural revolutions from an off-course location of one hundred square kilometers for twenty thousand inhabitants. Joan Baez, Graham Nash, Noa, Jack Savoretti and, last summer, Oliver Stone, visited the Poet’s Library passed through here.

Three appointments 2021, Francesco Bianconi (Thursday 15 July), The Representative of Lista (Thursday 22 July), Alice (Thursday 29 July), for a tribute to Battiato. Observing the Leopardian rule of the sober, essential story and of the sentimental and meditative style, the three songwriters evoke the Poet in a coherent way. Which was anti-romantic to exalt the classicism of the culture (of the cultures) of the Peninsula, a canon beyond the fashions and the spirit of (his) time. Who knows if the ambition of these songwriters will be able to collect, among others, this inheritance.
