Homemade pressure cooker dulce de leche that comes already stuffed

I’m sure you’ll love this homemade coconut milk jam made in the pressure cooker as much as I do. The preparation method is super simple and the result is delicious.

Furthermore, it can be a great way to prepare a sweet treat to give to someone you care about. Not to mention that you can vary it by swapping the coconut for other ingredients.

Take a look at the wonderful texture of this dulce de leche! It will be difficult not to want to eat the whole jar.

Dulce de leche in the pressure cooker

You’ve probably already seen (or even made) canned condensed milk cooked in a pressure cooker, right? In my opinion, this version is likely to be one of the tastiest dulce de leche I’ve ever tried.

But how about making a version that comes already stuffed and in a container that can be used both to take straight to the fridge, as well as to give as a gift to someone or even go straight to the table to be served? Perfect, right?

For me, without a doubt, the big difference with this version is that we can already make the filling incorporated into the sweet. It is possible to make pure dulce de leche with this method of preparation, but let’s agree, to make it in the simplest version, why not go straight from the can to the pan.

Here, we use grated coconut. But you can add chocolate, plums in syrup, peanuts and even guava paste. In other words, you can make the version you love most.

As I prefer not to make it extremely sweet, I opted for unsweetened grated coconut.

Tips for preparing your sweet

As simple as it may seem, for this recipe to be perfect, some tips are essential, such as:

Choose a glass pot that can withstand high temperatures. Furthermore, it needs to have a screw lid that can also withstand “cooking”. In other words, no plastic or wooden pots; The amount of condensed milk will depend on the size of your pot. As mine had a capacity of 500 ml, it took approximately that amount of condensed milk; You can measure the amount of filling. I wanted more texture, so for 500 ml of condensed milk, I used approximately 1/3 cup of grated coconut; It is essential to alternate a layer of condensed milk (in greater volume) with the filling, to make it easier to mixing after cooking; Wrapping your pot in a thick cloth, just like making a bed of cloths in your pressure cooker, prevents the glass from cracking; If you prefer your dulce de leche lighter, consider reducing the time under pressure. 40 to 30 min; Let it cool well before opening the jar; And finally, mix well to make your candy more uniform.

Furthermore, it is essential that you understand whether your glass pot fits in your pressure cooker, whether standing up or lying down.

Ingredients

Condensed milk – preferably whole; Grated coconut or other filling of your choice.

Instructions

The quantities of ingredients will depend on the size of the glass jar you choose. My pot had a capacity of 500 ml and I used approximately that amount of condensed milk and 1/3 cup of unsweetened grated coconut; In a very clean glass pot, start by adding the condensed milk. Then intersperse larger layers of condensed milk with a little grated coconut; Close your pot tightly and then wrap it in a very thick cloth; Line the sides and bottom of your pan with more cloths and add water to the maximum limit from your pan; Take it to cook. After the pressure starts, set 40 minutes for a darker dulce de leche; After this time, let it cool well before taking it out of the pan and opening it. Stir well to incorporate the coconut into the sweet and refrigerate; Serve plain or as a filling for sweets and accompaniment.
