ROME – Excellent performance for Hyundai Italia which, according to Unrae data, registered 45,009 cars in the year just ended. Thanks to this result, the Italian branch reached 3.1% market share (4% in the private channel), which corresponds to an increase of 0.7% compared to 2020 and 0.5% compared to 2019. In the total registration calculation, Hyundai has achieved an increase of almost 35% compared to 2020, while considering the year-on-year growth in sales and the increase in market share, the house has recorded one of the best performances in the market 2021 .

Part of Hyundai’s success in Italy is the result of the company’s steady rise in terms of brand value growth, so much so that for the seventh consecutive year, the Korean company was confirmed in the top 30 of Interbrand’s Best Global Brands ranking, with a global brand value up 6.3% year-on-year. Added to this are the more than 110 awards obtained in Europe in 2021, including 10 awards as “Car of the Year” for various models in its range, with the Ioniq 5 and Tucson, and the “Manufacturer of the Year” award at the Top Gear Awards.

New Kona, Tucson and i10 are the most popular Hyundai models in Italy in 2021: the mid-SUV totaled 14,789 units sold, more than double compared to 2020; Tucson has reached 11,636 units of which almost 80% of the total with an electrified engine. The compact i10 also did well, a car that has become the protagonist in the city-car segment thanks to 13,570 registrations, while the updated Kona range has nearly 8,000 units sold including mild-hybrid, full hybrid and electric engines.

Finally, it should be noted that in terms of electrification, Hyundai offers the widest range of green engines (full electric, mild hybrid, full-hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fuel cell) and models with hybrid and electric propulsion already represent 53% of the total home registrations, compared to the average figure of 38% of the Italian market. The prospect of growth in the draft sector will certainly be supported by the innovative 100% electric Ioniq 5 crossover, launched on the market last summer and currently in the running for the prestigious “Car of The Year 2022” award.
