The cultural and artistic heritage of our country is an extraordinary heritage that can certainly be used well at every level. Italy could use it for a real relaunch. Because the numbers are significant, with 4 thousand museums, 6 thousand archaeological sites, 85 thousand churches subject to protection, 40 thousand registered residences and 58 Unesco sites.

We will talk about this wealth and how to best manage it with the Minister for Cultural Heritage and Activities Dario Franceschini, guest of the fifth appointment, Tuesday 12 July at 11.30, of the cycle “Italy 2022: People, Work, Business“, platform for dialogue with leading exponents from the world of institutions, finance and business, promoted by PwC Italia in collaboration with the Gedi publishing group.

Italy 2022 People, work and business – Art and Culture: a relaunch strategy for the country

The new meeting, entitled “Art and Culture: a relaunch strategy for the country” will be dedicated to the strengths and weaknesses of a sector made up of 176 thousand cultural and creative companies which generated an added value of 84.6 in 2020. billion euros.

The Covid pandemic has certainly done its damage. There is talk of less than 8.1% of wealth in the entire supply chain and less 3.5% of employment levels (stopping at 1,445,600 employees). In terms of consumption, household spending collapsed to 93 euros (vs 127 euros in 2019), of which only 48 euros (2.1% of total expenditure) for cultural expenditure in the strict sense.

The turnout to museums, archaeological areas and public and private monuments has also dropped compared to the pre-Covid period: only 37 million visitors in 2020 compared to 130 million in 2019 (a decrease of 72%), with an average user per structure almost five times lower than the pre-pandemic (9 thousand people vs 28 thousand in 2019). And with the entrances, the receipts also fell, which went from over 242 million euros in 2019 to 52 million in 2020, with a loss of 78.4%.

Numbers, but also a lot of content in the meeting on 12 July. Ideas will be sought for how to best use all the unrivaled riches of our country.

The event will be broadcast live on Tuesday 12 July starting at 11.30 on all PwC Italia social platforms – on the PwC Italy Youtube channel, on the PwC Italy Twitter page, PwC Italy Facebook and Linkedin PwC Italy and on the Homepage of La Repubblica, La Repubblica. Press, Huffpost and GNN.
