The 17th Asian Film Awards announced that Jiang Qinqin was named “Queen of the Best Movies”

China News Service, Hong Kong, March 10 (Reporter Han Xingtong) The 17th Asian Film Awards Ceremony was held on the 10th at the Xiqu Center in the West Kowloon Cultural District of Hong Kong. The 16 awards were announced one by one. Mainland Chinese actor Jiang Qinqin won the best actress for the movie “The World of Grass and Trees”.

This year’s Asian Film Awards featured 35 films from 24 countries and regions competing for 16 awards. At the awards ceremony held that night, accolades such as Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, and Best Film were gradually unveiled.

Standout winners included Japanese actor Hiroshi Yakusho for Best Actor, Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda for Best Director for the film “Monster”, and the Japanese film “No Evil” winning Best Film. Mainland Chinese actress Zhao Liying also scooped the AFA New Generation Award.

Local Hong Kong filmmakers also shone at the event, with director Zhuo Yiqian winning Best New Director for “Diary of a Young Man” and actor Leung Yung-ting taking home Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Under the Sun”.

Notable awards also went to Korean actor Lee Young-ae for the Outstanding Asian Filmmaker Award, and the esteemed Lifetime Achievement Award to renowned mainland director Zhang Yimou.

The Asian Film Awards have been a platform since 2007 to honor exceptional Asian film works and talents, showcasing the diverse culture and vibrancy of the Asian film industry. The annual event attracts the attention of industry professionals and movie enthusiasts alike.
