In Viedma they kidnapped motorcycles for having free exhaust pipes

In traffic operations in the Rio Negro capital, new vehicle hijackings were recorded by the Road Safety Agency in Viedma for having free exhaust pipes. The Río Negro Police also collaborated in these procedures.

Of the 16 vehicles detained by the Municipality, 10 correspond to motorcycles that had a free exhaust pipe that failed to comply with the decibel levels established by the ordinance that has been in force since 2012.

The Local Road Safety Agency highlighted the seriousness of the damage caused by these motorcycles with free exhaust on people’s health. “We are going to continue with strong and constant controls”said Jorge Vilca, head of the Local Road Safety Agency.

According to that ordinance, which has been in force for 12 years in the provincial capital, «for motorcycles up to 80 cubic centimeters, the regulations provide up to 78 cubic centimeters. For those of 125cc, 80 decibels and with a successive table it reaches 86 decibels for those over 500 cc.

Article 3 of the decree establishes “empowering the authority to seize the vehicle that circulates on public roads and that, prior to its verification with the specific system, does not respect the maximum limits.”

These free escape controls are not so commonHowever, the decision was made to apply the decree taking into account the excessive noise of these motorcycles not only generates inconvenience, but can also cause serious consequences for people with hearing problems.
