iQiyi (IQ.US) has dominated the drama and variety show market in 2023, according to the recent report released by Yunhe Data. The report shows that iQiyi held a strong position, with eight of the top 10 dramas and four of the top 10 variety shows on the list.
In 2023, a total of 305 new domestic dramas were launched on long video platforms, 10 fewer than in 2022. However, the playback effect was further concentrated on top content. The top 10 dramas on the entire network were effectively played in total 322 billion, an increase of 13.6% compared with 2022.
iQiyi’s clear advantage was evident in the drama list, with eight of its works among the top 10 effectively broadcast dramas on the entire network. Among the top 10 popular new drama series effectively broadcast in all episodes, iQiyi works accounted for 10, further reflecting the popularity of the platform’s content.
In terms of variety shows, iQiyi also made a strong impact, with four of its programs making it to the top 10 effectively broadcast variety shows on the entire network. “Hahahahaha Season 3” ranked first, and the innovative variety show “Farming Bar” ranked fourth on the list.
The report also showed that the effective broadcast volume of member content of the entire network in 2023 reached 158.8 billion, with iQiyi leading the way with a score of 68.9 billion.
