Latam Brasil receives 8 new aircraft in one month and is ready to grow in 2024

This December, Latam reached the milestone of 8 new aircraft received in Brazil in the space of a month, reinforcing its commitment to expanding access to aviation in Brazil. This year, 15 of the 17 new planes received directly from the factory by the Latam group were directed to its Brazilian operation, which in 2024 is expected to grow by 7% to 9%.

“More planes mean more seats. As we promised, we are placing more capacity in the Brazilian market because we believe that Brazil will find a solution to aviation costs in 2024 and, thus, allow more people to have access to air transport in this country”, says Jerome Cadier, CEO of Latam Brasil .

This week, Latam announced 4 measures to universalize aviation in Brazil, including the addition of 10 thousand daily seats to its operation in the country in 2024. “There will be more than 3 million additional seats in the year to make more people able to fly ”, explained Jerome.

The 15 new aircraft received by Latam Brasil throughout 2023 correspond to its first 7 Airbus A321neo and 8 new A320neo. Now, the company’s fleet in Brazil totals 143 aircraft with an average age of 10.5 years, and Latam is the airline with the largest number of A321neos in operation in the country.

The Airbus A320neo (capacity for 176 passengers) offers 15% fuel savings compared to its previous model, and this savings can reach 20% on long flights. According to the manufacturer, the A320neo family aircraft have avoided the emission of almost 20 million tons of CO2 and reduced noise pollution by up to 50% since their arrival on the market.

The Airbus A321neo (capacity for 224 passengers), specifically, is 20% more fuel efficient than previous models, emits 20% less CO2 and produces 50% less noise. It is equipped with features from Airbus’ new Airspace cabin, with a more modern welcome area, adaptive lighting, the quietest cabin developed to date, new overhead carry-on luggage compartments that offer 60% more space, more accessible bathrooms for people with disabilities, touchless features and antimicrobial surfaces.
