Maribel Guardia Speaks Candidly About Her Plans for the Afterlife and Honoring Her Son’s Memory

Maribel Guardia Plans to Rest Alongside Son After Revealing Last Wishes

After the devastating loss of her only son, Maribel Guardia has opened up about her perspective on death and revealed her last wishes. The actress and singer, aged 64, shared in a recent meeting with the media that she wants her remains to be laid to rest next to her son, Julián.

“I’m going to buy a niche in a Church so they can put both of us there (Julián and me). If one dies, they throw him anywhere… but they throw me with Julián,” Guardia emotionally expressed.

She has entrusted the task to her husband, Marco Chacón, as she hopes to leave this world before him. Guardia expressed, “I hope I die before him, because I already told him that if he dies I will kill him.”

The Costa Rican also addressed the criticism she has received for keeping Julián’s ashes at home. Despite what others may say, Guardia finds comfort and a sense of closeness by having her son’s ashes with her. “Sometimes I think about that (deposit Julián’s ashes) but then I say no, I can’t; I’m happy to have him there,” she shared.

Guardia’s strength and emotional journey after her son’s passing have been inspiring. In a recent dedication to Julián’s memory, she expressed, “Nine months have passed and every day I miss you and love you more. Sometimes she threw the towel on the floor, (but) God takes it, places it back in my hands and tells me: ‘remember that this battle belongs to both of us.'”
