Mezzana Mortigliengo in the Academy of Legro d’Orta: murals dedicated to textiles on the houses of the Bonda hamlet

by admin

Mezzana is ready to enter the list of villages with painted walls, which has Lake Orta as its base, with a vein dedicated to textiles. After the first contacts in recent months to grant the patronage to an international tourist guide, the “Academy of arts and painted wall” of Legro d’Orta paused to describe with a video the originality of the singular artistic gallery created in Bonda hamlet. Immediately there was an interest in creating synergies. Now the mayor Aldo Serafia has returned the visit, discovering the “painted village” on Lake Orta.

Serafia met the president of the Academy, Fabrizio Morea, and the foundations were laid for a collaboration in the name of artistic, cultural and tourist promotion. The mayor of Mezzana walked the “streets of the cinema” of the hamlet overlooking the lake, where almost 70 murals recall scenes from films shot in the last 100 years among lakes, mountains and valleys of the Piedmontese provinces.

The mayor, already serving in the Police in Milan, paused in particular in front of the mural inaugurated a few weeks ago by the Undersecretary of the Interior Nicola Molteni and created by a policeman-painter in memory of Gigi Proietti (the famous actor in fact for years impersonated the character of the TV series “Il maresciallo Rocca”), on the anniversary of his death. During the meeting there was also talk of the possibility of starting a project dedicated to the study of a painted path that will recall the history and work of the Biella textile tradition. “An ambitious project – says Morea – that with the help of professionals in the sector we will be able to submit to some high-level sponsors”.

By the end of the year there will be a new meeting between the Accademia di Orta San Giulio and the Municipality of Mezzana Mortigliengo, which is about to approve entry into the Association for social promotion recognized by the Region. “We too, as Legro, have an entire fraction of painted walls – remembers Serafia – also linked to the Bondarte cultural event. Joining this association has above all as its objective the tourist revitalization of our territory, the idea of creating a trend linked to textile culture is also suggestive ». The hamlets of Legro and that of Bonda, albeit distant, could thus carry out a development project together.
