Minister Franceschini: “Dance, a permanent table is born”

by admin

The permanent table of the dance world is born. Accepting the requests and requests from the main players in the sector, the Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini has set up a permanent sector table at the Directorate General for Entertainment of the MiC, with the task of investigating the themes and problems of dance in Italy and to formulate proposals on the subject. The table will operate without new or greater burdens on public finance. There are no fees for members, no attendance fees, reimbursement of expenses or other emoluments. «Dance is an excellence of Italian culture recognized all over the world. Together with the lyric-symphonic foundations, like other sectors of live entertainment, it has suffered in this period of limitations and it is right that the Government and the institutions are close and work hard to find solutions ”, declared Minister Franceschini. «The world of Italian dance has been in crisis for many years now. The pandemic period has further worsened the underlying trends, with the end of many stable companies and the precariousness of many professionals in the sector. During the recent and repeated hearings in the Culture Committee, the overall dimensions of the programming imbalances in the lyric-symphonic foundations, the individual criticalities and the urgency of a structural intervention emerged. The establishment of a permanent table at the Ministry of Culture is therefore a first important response ”: so Vittoria Casa, president of the Culture, Science and Education Commission in the Chamber. And he added: “We must outline, together with the world of dance, an incisive line of intervention to reverse as soon as possible the trend towards the impoverishment of an important cultural heritage of the country”.
