The government announced the reactivation of the provincial commission for the detection, prevention and eradication of child labor (Copreti), created in 2008. The first session will be in May. Governor Rolando Figueroa and the Minister of Labor and Labor Development, Lucas Castelli, presented this Thursday the new structure of the commission. Representatives of the three powers of the State participated.
The provincial director for the prevention and eradication of child labor, Cecilia Otinanostated that “the launch of Copreti “It aims to provide opportunities, protect children and adolescents and guarantee their rights.” He added that the tools for this are: “make visible that this is a problem, work on prevention and intervene through assistance organizations.”
The official presented the progress made in the first months of management. She highlighted the creation of a computer system for case management, monitoring and statistics and the application of new acts to be used in the supervision of cases of child and adolescent laboras well as those used in inspections to control authorized artistic child labor.
In addition, the new Copreti regulations were presented and a intraministerial action protocol to the detection of girls, boys and adolescents in a working situation, with the clear objective of updating the statistical data related to the problem to comprehensively address an issue as complex as child labor.
Copreti has the mission of developing, articulating, coordinating and monitoring the policies of the Provincial State with the objective of preventing and eradicating child labor, regulating artistic child labor and protecting adolescent work in the province, promoting the protection and restitution of violated rights of minors.
