Omega doesn’t stop with James Bond

by admin

The last few weeks have been intense for Omega which, after the summer commitment as official timekeeper of the Tokyo Olympic Games in August, was the protagonist of two important events: the presentation of the new men’s watch, the Speedmaster Chronoscope, for which the brand Swiss owned by Swatch Group organized an international event at Villa Necchi in Milan during fashion week last week. It is a model available in six versions with a steel case and one with a case in Omega’s exclusive Bronze Gold (a material that is obtained by adding 37.5% 9-carat gold, palladium and silver). The dial with pulsometer scale, rangefinder and chronograph counters and the anodized aluminum or ceramic bezel (on the one in Bronze Gold) with tachymeter, declare the inspiration that the brand has taken from some of its chronograph pieces from the 40s. Hand-wound movement, visible through the transparent caseback, is the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Caliber 9908 caliber. The Speedmaster Chronoscope (in the photo alongside) is available with a leather strap or bracelet (only for the steel version).

Raynald Aeschlimann, president and CEO of Omega, also underlined at the evening how: «Speedmaster is an icon that continues to evolve and today we celebrate it as a chronograph. We chose Milan because Italy is one of the countries most linked to this collection and, also given the attention related to the fashion week, it is a perfect city for an appointment like this ».

After the launch in Milan, on 28 September in London the premiere of the highly anticipated last chapter of the 007 saga finally took place (after the continuous postponements, due to the pandemic). No Time To Die. As the official watch of the most famous secret agent in the service of Her Majesty in the world, the protagonists and brand ambassadors of Omega, Daniel Craig and Naomie Harris, wore two models, while on the screen, supplied to Bond, we saw the Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition. “We have been working successfully with this character for over twenty years. We can’t wait to find out the role the watch will play in the film. After all, an Omega has already saved his life in the past (in Specter, ed) … We are James Bond’s watch and we will also be in the future, whoever is his interpreter », concludes Aeschlimann.
