Under the creative lens, the sun is turned into a variety of meaningful objects. Against the hazy orange background, it seems that people can touch, play, or even move, with a very magical effect!
Krutik Bharat Thakur, 20, is a self-taught photographer from the seaside town of Dahanu in Maharashtra. After getting his first smartphone at the age of 16, he fell in love with the art of photography. Later, he borrowed a camera from a friend and cultivated his skills in this area through YouTube tutorials.
He usually likes to go to the beach just a few minutes away from home to explore and explore at sunset, and occasionally he found inspiration from it.
“One day, I met two children on the beach. I took a series of photos from different angles to make them look like they were sharing the sun,” he told the My Modern Met website. Because he was very satisfied with the final result, Thakur posted this series of photos on his Instagram, and the genre he called “sun_graphy” (sun_graphy) was born.
Thakur’s creative inspiration mainly comes from characters, props and spontaneous ideas, and the themes mostly imitate the magic and innocence of children’s stories.
In a group of photos, two women seemed to put the sun into the basket and slowly lifted it up. One of them finally put the basket with the sun high on his head. “When I saw a woman helping a vegetable seller put her basket on her head, I thought of recreating it at sunset,” the artist explained.
In another set of photos, a tired-looking man is connected to a wire with an oversized plug. His friend seemed to connect the plug to the setting sun like a big fireball, as if to send huge energy to this person, and the once tired person immediately rejuvenated.
In addition, Thakur also tried other different backgrounds, including the moon, the sea, and architectural landscapes.
Since December 2019, he has continued to share his work on the Internet. One of the series of photos depicts a boy “packing” the sunset into his backpack, and then he puts on his backpack and goes on the road. Unexpectedly, this group of photos quickly became popular on the Internet. Motivated by this, Thakur began to sell print editions of his most popular works.

“This will be a never-ending game, and it’s very challenging, but I’m sure I enjoy it.” He told the Bored Panda website.
It is worth mentioning that Thakur won the first place in the 2020 WallMag Sunset Photo Contest. Soon thereafter, he bought his first camera, the Nikon D5600, without borrowing equipment.
Speaking of his favorite things, he said, “Sunset is indeed the beautiful creation of nature, and children are the most inspiring subjects.”
“When I was a student, I didn’t participate in any competition because I was afraid of losing. Now, I don’t want to have any regrets in the future. I just want to raise the camera to seize any opportunity to show my creation, and have the same Enthusiastic people compete against each other,” he added.
