Robotaxi Ioniq 5, the future begins like this

ROME – Autonomous driving, but with a completely human inspiration. This is the philosophy behind the campaign with which Hyundai and Motional will distribute a fleet of Ioniq 5 self-driving robotaxis in the main US cities. And it is no coincidence that the campaign itself is entitled “Innovation Begins, from Very Human Things”, or rather “Innovation starts from something very human”.

Presented for the first time at the IAA Mobility 2021, the 100% electric robotaxi is an autonomous vehicle of level 4 SAE that moves without a driver in complete safety, And to demonstrate it, the Korean giant has made two videos in which it is evident how much the side human remains common to the center.

In the first episode a woman who works at the Hyundai experimental center, and who participates in the design of the robotaxi, tries to transfer to the car the same careful and respectful driving style that her father used when she was a child. It is a nostalgic video but projected towards the future, because it ends with the little girl who has become a woman who goes to pick up her father, aged about twenty years, with her robotaxi.

Il second video instead he sees in the center of the teenagers taking a ride aboard the robotaxi after school hours. When one of her friends unfastens her seat belt, the robotaxi reminds her that she must always fasten her seat belt, just like a parent would if she were on board her.
