Shakira Opens Up About Sacrifices Made for Gerard Piqué in New Interview
In a recent interview with The Times, Colombian singer Shakira revealed the sacrifices she made for her former partner, soccer player Gerard Piqué. Despite previously staying mum on the topic, Shakira spoke candidly about putting her career on hold to support Piqué’s dreams on the soccer field.
“For a long time I put my career on hold to be by Gerard’s side so he could play football,” Shakira shared in the interview. “There was a lot of sacrifice for love.”
Shakira, who recently released her new album “Las Mujeres no ya Lloran,” set to be released on March 22, also discussed the impact of her divorce on their children, Milan and Sasha.
“They know that there is only one way to live and that is to accept pain and each of us has different ways of doing it,” Shakira said. “When his father and I were going through this separation process, Milan wrote two incredible songs, the kind that make you cry.”
“Las Mujeres no Lloran” will feature 16 songs with a mix of pop, reggaeton, ballads, and electronica, with collaborations from artists like Bizarrap, Ozuna, Karol G, Cardi B, and more. Fans can also expect Shakira to go on tour in support of the album.
Shakira, 47, and Piqué, 37, announced their separation in June 2022 after nearly 13 years together. Despite the challenges they faced in their relationship, Shakira continues to navigate her career and personal life with grace and resilience.
