Sofía Vergara Opens Up About Her Divorce with Joe Manganiello and Moving Forward
Sofía Vergara, best known for her role as Gloria in Modern Family and as a judge on “America’s Got Talent,” recently sat down for an interview with “CBS Sunday Morning” to candidly discuss her highly publicized divorce from Joe Manganiello. The couple announced their separation in June 2023, after seven years of marriage.
“I was prepared for the media frenzy. You can’t hide those things,” Vergara expressed in the interview. However, she was surprised by the respectful and kind treatment she received from the press during such a difficult time. “The press was very respectful and very kind. They kind of just said what it was and that was it.”
Despite calling 2023 an “interesting” and “difficult” year, Vergara has also expressed her excitement for the new year and the opportunities it will bring. She is looking forward to the release of her Netflix limited series, Griselda, and the continued success of her skincare brand, Toty.
Vergara and Manganiello issued a joint statement in July, asking for privacy as they navigated their new lives. Since then, both have moved on to new relationships. Vergara has been seen dating orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman, while Manganiello has entered a relationship with actress Caitlin O’Connor.
Although their marriage did not stand the test of time, Vergara reflected on their relationship, calling it “very easy” and explaining that past mistakes had helped them become a better couple. “It is a very easy relationship, easy in every way. Looking back at the relationships I had before this, I think the universe was giving me some hard practice so I could do this right,” Manganiello shared in an interview with Inside Weddings.
Vergara and Manganiello began their relationship in 2014 and got married in 2015 after he proposed to her during a Christmas vacation in Hawaii. Despite the challenges they faced, both are now focused on moving forward and looking forward to new opportunities in the future.
