CCTV, Suzhou, June 21 News On the evening of June 20, a large-scale ethnic orchestral concert focusing on a century of red classic music with the theme of “Red Echoes of Jiangnan” was performed passionately at the Grand Theater of Suzhou Culture and Art Center .

The concert was co-sponsored by the Propaganda Department of the Suzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, Suzhou Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau, and Suzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles. Jin Jie, member of the Standing Committee of the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee and Minister of the Propaganda Department, watched the performance.

The concert kicked off the reminiscence of the past with the adaptation of the Suzhou National Orchestra of “Ode to the Red Flag” by composer Lv Qiming. The concert performed meticulously a number of red classic musical works based on the soundtracks of folk operas or dance dramas. Zhu Changyao, a famous erhu performer and art director of the Suzhou Folk Orchestra, personally played the “Honghu Theme Caprice”. In the anthropomorphic voice, timbre and changeable performance of the erhu, the work tells the suffering of the people in the old society and the red guards. The bravery in the fight against the enemy and the awe-inspiring heroic image represented by the heroine Han Young vividly presented in front of the audience, which made people deeply infected.

Young female singer Chen Yang and Suzhou National Orchestra performed the Chinese Orchestra “In the Field of Hope”, showing the new face of the motherland after the reform and opening up, and praising the great achievements of socialist modernization under the leadership of the party. The well-known performing artist Gu Xiang, together with the Suzhou National Orchestra, performed “Sing a Folk Song for the Party” with a high-pitched, uplifting voice and deep and gentle tenderness.
Zhu Changyao said: “Tonight’s performance repertoire is adapted from the red classic music that everyone is familiar with. Through careful arrangement and performance, the audience can burst and sublimate the love and respect of the party in the red music memories.”
