The Bleeding – Monokrator

(c) The Bleeding

In the right hands, thrash metal can be deadly. The Bleeding throw some Death Metal into the mix and throw a crowbar on top. Founded in 2010, the British quartet has so far released two albums and several small formats, which, with their brute force, are reminiscent of the primordial soup, of the split between the two genres. The not-so-secret recipe doesn’t change on the third version either: “Monokrator” reaches consciously and purposefully.

“Chemical Lobotomy” already bears the uncompromising title in the unembellished title and distributes blows in the neck with growing enthusiasm. High tempo, subliminal blast action, a bit more Death than Thrash and rancid undertones in the high tempo area put you in a good mood. A bit of groove in between and a furiously fast, almost hellish guitar solo round off the song perfectly. In contrast, “Chainsaw Deathcult” opens with a bass solo and then ventures into the labyrinth. Minor caesuras and another mid-tempo section of selected heaviness know how to entertain.

The punches gain in precision: “On Wings Of Tribulation” seems to overturn itself in the meantime and reaches out courageously. Crunchy thrash riffs meet infernal death metal undertones. On the other hand, “Throes Of Perdition” even adds some Blackened charm, acts grumpy and throws dirt around. This also works surprisingly well. In “Mutation Chamber” the thrash-part goes to the highest heights, saluting early Kreator and at the same time doing his own thing with growing enthusiasm. The oppressive second half torpedoes all senses at the same time.

Eight songs, 30 minutes and no breather – sometimes it can be so simple. The Bleeding are almost in a constant sprint, even in the mid-tempo passages, and serve their Death Thrash even a bit more uncompromisingly than on the predecessors. The pure, unfiltered and (self-) destructive malice of “Monokrator” hurts in every limb and yet is so wholesome. Here the band name becomes an entertaining program – a direct hit from which you first have to recover.
