The Chinese car covered in gold – the Republic

by admin

Chinese carmaker Saic presented a very special version of its Roewe Imax 8, with gold inserts. The model, produced in a single example, was created by the Chinese artist Wang Kaifang. Adorning the exterior of the Imax 8 are a multitude of gold components, including the front grille, air intakes, headlight surround, mirrors, window trims, side skirts and several other components. The circles are also in gold, designed by the sculptor Wang, who made gold his main material.

Mystery, however, on the interiors, of which no images have been released and for which it is not known the number of gold components added. The Imax 8 is based on the existing Maxus G20 and is available in six, seven and eight seat versions. The vehicle is currently offered with two different engine options. The first is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged, four-cylinder and 180 hp engine, while the second, more powerful version is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 224 hp. Both engines are mated to an Aisin eight-speed automatic transmission.
In the future, a fully electric version of around 200 hp could also arrive.
