Alone as a quantitative-qualitative reversal boost to the 2022 predecessor, which was not on point DRILLMATIC Heart vs. Mind it pays Hit-Boy-Commitment to The Game and his collaboration record Paisley Dreams out of.
But first things first. Actually, Jayceon Terrell Taylor consolidated the father-son duo Chauncey Alexander Hollis Sr. and Jr. just to work on a song. But in the end it ended up being 9 tracks in 29 minutes over two evenings, exclusively from Hit-Boy (as a new beginning after the fabulous run with Nas produced in the usual quality). The Game (delivering calmly, showing a charismatic flow) and Big Hit (in itself solid, but still the weak point of the record) lays out a common stage.
It creates a nice, classic, Californian West Coast gangsta feeling over long stretches, but comes across as relaxed and vital. Occasionally (in P Fiction, Happy Ru Year or Body for Body) conducted Hit-Boy The two rappers then move into trendier, trap-oriented terrain, which creates even more tension and drama than the routine comfort zone. More courage to take risks would probably not have been a bad idea.
In general there is a lack of entertaining Paisley Dreams then there are really interesting, challenging highlights (the soulfully sampling title track is the closest to claiming this position), but without any failures (even if the leisurely rolling one Bang Freestyle with his really idiotic lyrics Big Hit really wants to go there) all in all, this still results in a good start to the year for everyone involved. At best as the start of a new trilogy?
