Ravenna

On the 11th at the Pala De André Riccardo Muti with the Vienna Philharmonic opens the 35th Ravenna Festival, which continues until July 9th with music, prose and dance; two symphonies, by Mozart and Schubert, are on the program. The other dates are in Florence at the Teatro del Maggio on the 12th and at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari on the 13th.

Vicenza

From 13 to 19 May the 28th edition of Vicenza Jazz, with dozens and dozens of concerts in a non-stop schedule from the afternoon until late at night (and on one occasion until dawn). The concerts will not be limited to theaters, spreading throughout the city, from clubs to ancient buildings, churches, museums, cinemas, bookshops, streets and squares of the historic center. The title of the festival, “A dream long eighty-eight keys”, identifies the most relevant among the multiple listening paths. Sitting in front of the keyboard will be Uri Caine, Omar Sosa, Craig Taborn, Marialy Pacheco, Antonio Faraò, Dado Moroni, Danny Grissett, Margherita Fava, Francesca Tandoi, and numerous others.

Milano

On the 12th at La Scala open rehearsal of the Philharmonic Orchestra, with its director Riccardo Chailly and the pianist Alexander Malofeev. The program includes music by Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev. As always for the Open Rehearsal cycle, the proceeds of the evening will be allocated to the “La Palestra delle Emozioni” project of the Mercurio Association, born in 2022 to address the alarming increase in psycho-emotional distress widespread among pre-adolescents and adolescents. The cycle is focused this year on combating educational poverty. Since 2010, the project has involved 49 entities, organizing 62 charity evenings attended by over 118,000 spectators, for a total collection of over 1,500,000 euros for social purposes. On the 8th at the Blue Note the clarinet and sax of Paquito D’Rivera , a living legend of Cuban music, capable of expressing himself in the purest boppist jazz language as well as in the most fiery Latin idiom.
