Gina Montes, former dancer in La Carabina de Ambrosio, died on January 27, 2024 from cancer-related injuries at the age of 71. She was remembered for her memorable dance performances on the popular Mexican TV show in the 70s and 80s. Her rise to fame was due to her captivating stage presence and her popular dance known as “Denankiu.” Montes was a sex symbol of the time and gained attention from public figures, including politicians.
After her departure from the entertainment industry in 1985, Montes chose to focus on raising her daughter, Judith Teresa Macías. She shared that she had to work in various unglamorous jobs such as cleaning assistant, driver, cook, and embroiderer to support her daughter as a single mother.
Despite living away from the limelight, Montes remained devoted to her daughter, even declaring that Judith was her pride and the source of her greatest satisfaction. She continued to live in New York, where she settled after an infidelity led to her separation from her daughter’s father.
Although Montes’ death occurred at the end of January, it was not publicly announced until Monday, February 5, as her daughter was grieving and chose to keep the news private until now.
