20th Century Studios Announces Restart of Production for “The Maze Runner”
After a successful run with a film trilogy from 2014 to 2018, “The Maze Runner” is set to make a comeback as 20th Century Studios officially announced the restart of production. The dystopian science fiction franchise, which has grossed nearly US$1 billion at the box office, is gearing up for a fresh start.
Disney is reportedly in talks with “Transcendence” screenwriter Jack Paglen to pen the script for the reboot. Additionally, key players from the original trilogy, including producers Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Lee Stollman, Wyck Godfrey, and Marty Bowen, are all on board for the new project. Director Wes Ball, who helmed the original trilogy, is set to return as a producer.
The “Maze Runner” reboot is not a remake or a direct sequel to the original trilogy but aims to capture the essence and excitement of the initial storyline that captured fans’ hearts.
