The singing skills and acting skills of “Jue Xin”, a tragic character in the family building, stood on the stage, and the audience was moved and could not help but sigh. When analyzing character creation, Jin Shengquan said: “When creating the character of Juexin, my voice expression is more focused on pursuing a sense of age and sense of scale. I feel that Xin is a fettered character in a feudal family, so his voice sounds It is always hesitant to speak, not very bright, even with a hint of cowardice.”

The musical “Home” refines, cuts and reshapes the characters, scenes, and plots of the original novel. In addition to the relationship between Juexin and Mei Fen and Rui Jue, it also focuses on the second young master Juemin and the cousin of Qin. The three young masters Juehui and the maid Mingfeng, Mrs. Gao and Aunt Chen, and many other groups of characters reproduce the various forms of sentient beings in feudal families in the old era, and the determination and action of the new youth to break through the cage after the “May Fourth Movement”.

Director Liu Hongmei said in an interview: “The new version of the musical “Home” staged this time is more contemporary. We have strengthened the ideals and beliefs of young people in the play, and strengthened their awareness of awakening. We hope that young audiences can feel it. To enlightenment and power, let the classics exude a new light in a way that we love to hear.”

At the end of the play, after the death of the lover and the decline of the family, the young generation who came out of the “home” walked together again, singing the melody of “Awakening”, impassioned, inspiring the audience, and pushing the play to its climax.

As a local original musical, the music and dance presentation of “Home” became the highlight of the premiere that night.

The whole play contains 28 songs such as “Feng Juemei”, “Awakening” and “Quote of Youth”. The music is accompanied by the ups and downs of the plot, sometimes soft and soothing, sometimes sad and euphemistic, sometimes impassioned, and the melody is bright, leaving a deep impression on the audience. At the same time, in line with the creative concept of inheriting and carrying forward Chinese traditional music, the play incorporates elements such as folk songs and traditional operas with Sichuan regional characteristics, such as Sichuan lyrics by the guests at the beginning of the bridal chamber, and the Beijing opera ” “Golden Monkey Offering Rui”, etc., the rich national music elements fully demonstrate the nationality and localization characteristics of the play. In addition, the whole play boldly incorporates rock music elements to express the emotional changes and character development of the characters, and to achieve the ingenious combination of tradition and modernity.

In the dance creation of “Home”, a large number of creative elements such as Chinese classical dance, folk dance and Chinese opera were absorbed. The dance stage focuses on showing the character and emotion of the character. For example, Juehui and Mingfeng are determining their love. The moving duet stage danced after Yi Yi expresses affection through dance, and the body language makes the whole play more fulfilling and interesting.

The stage design of “Home” is also very interesting, whether it is the wedding banquet scene with red lights at the opening, or the scattered plum forest scene, or the tall courtyard with high-rise leaning stairs… The whole play is based on traditional Chinese architecture and traditions. Inspired by the character “Tian”, the main narrative scene of “Home” was reshaped in a realistic way. The antique and full of oriental charm will bring the audience into the situation in an instant, and bring the love and hate of Ba Jin’s pen. In the “home”.

It is reported that this round of the musical “Home” is another commercial performance launched by the Experimental Theater of the Central Academy of Drama after its resumption of operations in 2019. The predecessor of the Experimental Theater of the Central Academy of Drama can be traced back to 1950. After experiencing the “baptism of war and growth in reforms”, the experimental theater has embarked on a new journey and officially resumed operations in 2019.

The musical “Home” will continue to be staged at Beijing Tianqiao Art Center until August 1. (Finish)
