Director Lin Yongchang, producer Shang Linlin, production director Wang Qiang, and dubbing director Tan Xiao attended Meet the audience after the screening. Professor Ai Shengying, dean of the Animation Department of Communication University of China, was invited to watch the film and express his impressions.
“City of Warriors and Horses” is inspired by the terracotta warriors and horses to create an underground world, where not only the terracotta warriors and horses live, but also the resurrected bronze beasts of various bronze cultural relics and a kind of underground native creatures called “di犼”. The battle between Dixian and the warriors is protracted. The hero Meng Yuan is a miscellaneous warrior warrior in the underground Qin Mausoleum. He cooperated with the mysterious girl Shi Yu to capture Dixian and went through a dangerous situation. Unexpectedly, he discovered that Dixian could not fight the terracotta warriors. The mystery of interest, but therefore encountered a greater crisis.
After watching the film, Ai Shengying, director of the Animation Department of Communication University of China, commented that this is an excellent work. “It combines the terracotta warriors and horses to create a fantasy underground world, with epic sources and fantasy settings, and the world view is very imaginative.”
Producer Shang Linlin said that five years ago, the team had an urge to make a traditional cultural film. Some films had some clips and backgrounds about the terracotta warriors and horses, but there was no terracotta warriors and horses movie before in China. This idea made the team very excited. But it was too difficult to do it. “The symbols are very good, but there is no story that can be adapted. You need to imagine what the underground world looks like. The ignorant is fearless. If you go back to five years ago, you don’t know if you have the courage to make this film.”
There is more than one film in this film, and it is planned to be a series of IP, because there are figurines in all dynasties, from Qin to Tang, Tang to Han, time and space can be traversed. Director Lin Yongchang revealed that the second part is already under planning.
