The Public Ministry of the National District of the Dominican Republic has requested a year of preventive detention for Tekashi 6ix9ne after he was arrested on January 17 following a complaint of gender violence filed by Wanda Díaz, the mother of Yailin La Más Viral. According to reports from De Última Minuto, the request for a coercive measure was submitted by the MP to the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of the National District.
In a surprising turn of events, Yailin, the alleged victim, has expressed her intention to testify in favor of Tekashi. His lawyer, Waldo Paulino, stated that Yailin wants to clarify the situation with the authorities and has requested to be present in court to defend the rapper.
Despite Yailin’s defense of Tekashi and her denial of the alleged attacks, Ana Andrea Villa Camacho, head of the Directorate against Gender Violence of the Attorney General’s Office, explained that the crime for which he is accused is pursued ex officio in the country. Villa Camacho emphasized that violence against women is a criminal phenomenon that the Public Ministry pursues constantly and that the case will continue to be prosecuted, regardless of the victim’s stance.
She also mentioned that videos in which Yailin denounces Tekashi’s attacks could serve as evidence in the case, and that the Public Ministry will use any method of proof to demonstrate the truth.
