1904 – THE VOICE FROM THE INTERIOR. 120 years ago, La Voz del Interior was born, with the imprint and business vision of Silvestre Rafael Remonda and the journalistic talent of Juan Dionisio Naso.

Both gave impetus to a booklet of just six pages that they published for the first time on March 15, 1904 and that would mark an extensive tradition of quality journalism in “la Docta” and throughout the country.

1959 – RICARDO SOULÉ. The musician and composer Ricardo Soulé, guitarist and vocalist of Vox Dei, one of the most emblematic bands of national rock, was born in Buenos Aires.

1964 – HUGO GATTI. In a friendly with Peñarol organized by River Plate to pay that Montevideo club for the transfer of Uruguayan defender Roberto Matosas, goalkeeper Hugo Orlando Gatti, who had arrived from Atlanta, made his debut on the “millionaire” team. It was a 1-1 draw at the Monumental stadium. “Loco” Gatti would later become an idol of Boca Juniors.

1963 – BRET MICHAELS. American musician and composer Bret Michaels (Bret Michael Sychak), vocalist of the glam rock band Poison, with which he sold more than 40 million records, was born in the state of Pennsylvania (USA).

1962 – MAFALDA CARTOON. The cartoonist Joaquín Lavado, better known by his pseudonym Quino, designed the first strips of the cartoon of the girl Mafalda commissioned by an advertising agency to promote the Manfield line of household appliances. In 1964, the Buenos Aires magazine Primera Plana began publishing the comic strip that would gain popularity in Latin America and Spain.

1971 – THE BIBLE. The rock band Vox Dei releases La Bible, their second studio album, considered a milestone of Hispanic rock and one of the first rock operas in the Spanish language.

1972 – THE GODFATHER. The film The Godfather, based on the novel by Mario Puzzo, directed by Francis Ford Coppola and starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino, a cult classic of cinema about the Mafia that had two sequels, premieres in New York (USA). It won the Oscar for best picture and best screenplay, while Brando received the Hollywood award for best actor.

1995 – CARLOS MENEM JR. At the age of 25, motorist Carlos Saúl Facundo Menem, son of former president Carlos Saúl Menem, died when the helicopter he was piloting fell in a field around the Buenos Aires city of Ramallo, an accident that also cost the life of his colleague and friend Silvio Oltra.

2024 – CONSUMER RIGHTS. Since 1985, World Consumer Rights Day has been celebrated, established by the United Nations to protect consumers of goods and services around the world.
