Chilean Actress Mariana Derderián Faces Family Tragedy After Son Dies in House Fire
The Chilean entertainment industry is in mourning as beloved actress and presenter Mariana Derderián is facing a terrible family tragedy. Her six-year-old son tragically died in a fire that broke out in their home.
According to reports from the Chilean press, the fire occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, May 8, believed to have been caused by a short circuit while Mariana and her two children were asleep. When Mariana noticed the flames, she desperately searched for her children and was able to rescue her nine-year-old daughter. Tragically, she was unable to save her youngest son, Pedro, who was trapped in his room and died in the fire.
Adding to the heartbreaking situation, Mariana’s ex-partner and the father of the deceased child, journalist Francisco Aravena, attempted to rescue their son but suffered serious burns to his respiratory tract. He is currently in an induced coma in the hospital.
The news of her son’s death caused Mariana to decompensate, and she was admitted to the hospital. However, she has since been discharged and is now staying with her sister, according to local media.
