Usa, Madeleine Albright died: she was the first female secretary of state

Madeleine Albright died, she was the first woman to hold the office of Secretary of State in the United States: she was 84 years old. She was born in Czechoslovakia from where she fled, still a child with her family, during the Second World War under the Nazi occupation. After working in the Clinton administration she had become something of a feminist icon of pop culture. She was sick with cancer.

Albright was a central figure in President Bill Clinton’s administration, first as a United States Ambassador to the United Nations and then as Secretary of State. He supported NATO expansion, pushed the alliance to intervene in the Balkans to stop genocide and ethnic cleansing, tried to reduce the spread of nuclear weapons and supported human rights and democracy around the world, recalls the CNN.
