“Gorilla Tag” is a multiplayer game that combines fun sports and social interaction. After launching the Quest platform through App Lab, the number of players has continued to grow. In just four and a half months, game players have reached 675,000. Developer Kerestell Smith was taken aback by the game’s popularity.
In “Gorilla Tag”, the player plays a footless gorilla, chasing the opponent in the catching game by tapping the ground with his hands. What’s interesting is that most players are just playing and chatting, not really playing catch games.
In addition to the amazing growth in the number of Quest players, the game has become the best-rated VR free game on Steam. It has received 98% of “overwhelming praise” out of 1854 user reviews, beating Google Earth VR and The Lab and all other games.
Kerestell Smith stated that his short-term plan is to add some paid content to “Gorilla Tag” so that players can directly support the further development of the game.
“I am working hard to improve some of the more core functions, such as making it easier for people to play games with friends in public spaces, allowing players who want to play more difficult modes to team up, and making more game modes and maps. There are also some technical aspects. Work, such as reducing network traffic, increasing delay compensation, and increasing server locations.”
