The Science Fiction Planet Award Recognizes Innovation and Creativity in Science Fiction Industry
People’s Daily Online, Beijing, April 18 (Reporter Meng Zhu) – The winners of the second Science Fiction Planet Award have been announced, recognizing outstanding achievements in the science fiction industry. The awards, which include categories such as Technology, Literature, Work, and Outstanding Contribution, aim to showcase the diverse and innovative projects within the science fiction genre.
Among the winners are well-known works such as “The Three-Body Problem”, “The Wandering Earth 2”, and “Our Martian”, as well as groundbreaking technologies like “Shougang No. 1 Blast Furnace·SoReal Science Fiction Park” and “LED Virtual filming and production technology“.
The selection process for the awards was rigorous, with 458 individuals from around the world and 28 provinces and cities in China participating. The finalists were chosen based on their contributions to the science fiction industry, showcasing the global reach and impact of the genre.
The Science Fiction Planet Award Ceremony and investment and financing matchmaking activities will take place at Shougang Park in Shijingshan District, Beijing during the 8th China Science Fiction Conference in 2024. This event aims to provide a platform for international exchange and collaboration within the science fiction industry.
Initiated by prominent figures in the science fiction world such as Wang Jinkang, Liu Cixin, Wu Yan, and Guo Fan, the Science Fiction Planet Award is the first comprehensive science fiction award created independently by China. It seeks to recognize and reward individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to the industry, promoting innovation and internationalization.
As Liu Cixin, the honorary chairman of the Science Fiction Planet Award, stated, “Science fiction is a kind of power. It can stimulate our imagination, broaden our horizons, and allow us to see a farther future.” With the continued support and recognition of events like the Science Fiction Planet Award, the science fiction industry is poised for further growth and success.
