Beijing People’s Art Theater Premieres Original Beijing-Style Drama “Yongdingmenli” at the Capital Theater

China News Service, Beijing, May 2 (Reporter Gao Kai) – The Beijing People’s Art Theater kicked off the month of May with the premiere of their annual original Beijing-style drama, “Yongdingmenli,” at the prestigious Capital Theater on the evening of May 1.

Written by Jin Yun, former director and screenwriter of the Beijing People’s Art Theater, and directed by Beijing People’s Art Director Tang Ye, “Yongdingmenli” marks the theater’s first original production of the year. Tang Ye, known for his direction of various works with ancient and modern Chinese and foreign themes, brings his expertise to this new play.

The heart of the story lies in the two male protagonists who have endured a journey together for over three decades. Screenwriter Jin Yun poured his understanding of the changing times and his belief in human nature into the characters, exploring themes of resilience and transformation. The audience will witness the unwavering dedication of policeman Xiao Dali and the evolution of “teacher” Feng Jingbo as they navigate life’s challenges.
