Gemini, Google’s Ai conversational chatbot, is updated by expanding its linguistic features and introducing extensions that will allow information and features from various services in the Google ecosystem such as Workspace, YouTube, Maps, Flights and Hotels to be directly integrated into Gemini. A feature already announced last September (when the chatbot was still called Bard).
The update, already available, introduces support for new languages (over 40) for the dedicated Gemini app, allowing local users to also use the chatbot in Italian. An improvement that reflects the goal of making artificial intelligence easily accessible and usable by a wider audience, on most commonly used devices.

More functionality with extensions

Google’s goal, with the new extensions, is to make the chatbot central in personal searches, without having to switch from one app to another, accessing data and functions from Gmail, Google Docs, Drive, Maps, YouTube and even Google Flights and Hotels directly from the Gemini interface. Just ask the Ai assistant that uses Gemini to be able to use artificial intelligence with the information from all these Google services. One of the most interesting applications is the integration with Workspace. To search for Documents, cloud files in Drive and emails in Gmail, just open Gemini. By enabling the extension, Gemini becomes a productivity assistant capable of helping the user with various questions on searches and summaries on specific documents or emails (for example asking to search for emails from a specific sender). On YouTube the chatbot is able to advise and answer questions relating to specific videos (for example, asking for all recently released videos that concern the test drive of a recently released car). Thanks to the Flights and Hotels extension it is possible to plan a trip directly on Gemini by requesting information on flights, a location and specific hotels available in the destination. Finally, with Maps, Gemini can provide location-based information. A feature that can be used, for example, to list the best-reviewed restaurants in a specific area (the best-reviewed trattorias in a specific area or country). While for use on PCs and laptops just click on the specific page (gemini.google.com), on Android devices the app is not yet available on the Play Store for European users. To have it, you can download and install it manually (via APK) and then enable it via the settings relating to the assistant to be used on the device.
