The annual gaming festival E3 has been suspended or moved online due to the impact of COVID-19 in recent years. Due to the outbreak of the Omicron variant at the beginning of this year, the American ESA (Entertainment Software Association), which hosted E3, announced the cancellation of the physical exhibition in early January. It originally thought that an online exhibition could be held, but ESA issued a statement to the media on March 31, local time, saying that this year There won’t be an online show, meaning this year’s E3 is canceled entirely.
The first person to reveal the news was Will Powers, the PR director of Razer America. Later, the media also received an official statement, saying that this year’s E3 online exhibition will be canceled.
This is the third year that E3 can’t be held. E3 2022 was canceled when COVID-19 first broke out. In 2021, it was decided to be held online from the beginning. Unexpectedly, it will be canceled completely in 2022. At the time of writing, the E3 official website only has a link to review E3 2021, and there is no information about the physical exhibition before 2021, but still retains the form to subscribe to the E3 2022 e-newsletter.
The official statement stated that it will focus resources on holding both online and physical exhibitions in 2023: “We look forward to showing E3 from Los Angeles to fans around the world in 2023″.
However, it is known that Xbox will still hold its own large-scale promotional activities in June.
