Mathematician and Partisan Gaetano Caricato shares his perspective on the importance of cultivated food and artificial products in feeding a growing global population during the ‘Comunicare One Health‘ event. The event, promoted by Senator Antonio De Poli and Hon. Paola Binetti, in collaboration with the non-profit association ‘Medicine and Frontiers’, focused on the relationship between human, animal, and environmental health.

Caricato, who recently celebrated his 101st birthday, recounted his experiences during World War II, emphasizing the struggles of obtaining adequate nutrition during the conflict. He highlighted the dire conditions faced in a concentration camp and his subsequent escape, surviving on meager rations before reuniting with a partisan group.

The event, attended by notable figures such as Vice-President of the Senate Maria Domenica Castellone and Director of food hygiene and safety Ugo della Marta, aimed to promote interdisciplinary collaborations in addressing global healthcare challenges. The concept of ‘One Health‘, which recognizes the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health, was at the forefront of discussions.

Participants discussed the importance of addressing current pandemic emergencies and climate crises through a holistic approach, involving various disciplines such as Public Health, Veterinary Medicine, and Environmental Sciences. The conference emphasized the necessity of collaboration in tackling the complex healthcare issues facing the planet.
