A meningitis vaccine could also protect against gonorrhea

A vaccine against meningitis, a serious infection that affects the nervous system, may also be effective, at least in part, against gonorrhea, a sexually transmitted infection. Today three researches published on The Lancet Infectious Diseases highlight a possible association between an anti-meningococcal vaccine and the reduction in cases of gonorrhea.

According to two of these studies, the incidence of new infections would have decreased by 33% and 40% in adolescents and young adults.
