Active citizenship, attention to Covid, Long Covid and fragility – Healthcare

(ANSA) – ROME, JUNE 07 – To inform and increase the knowledge and awareness of the population on the risks of developing severe forms of Covid-19, in particular for people with frailty or with specific health conditions: this is the objective of the guide “Covid, Long Covid and fragility. Let’s keep our attention high!” that Cittadinanzattiva publishes online on its website, within the activities envisaged for the “Be Aware” program (Be Active citizens for Widespread Awareness, infoRmation and Education). The guide contains the advice of Cittadinanzattiva, the list of 113 territorial clinics for the treatment of long Covid, references for protection, and updated information on: the end of the pandemic and the “new normality”, the “long Covid”, the point on vaccination anti Covid-19, the impact of the disease on frail patients, risk factors and prophylaxis, anti Covid-19 vaccination in pregnancy, breastfeeding and in childhood.

Although the WHO has declared the end of the emergency, Cittadinanzattiva explains in a note – Covid-19 can still pose a threat to a large segment of the population: they are frail patients, people with pathologies and other pre-existing conditions, exposed to more risk factors and a more severe course of the disease. Heart disease, diabetes and chronic renal failure are significantly more frequent and more consistent among deceased Covid-19 patients than in the general population.

In this context, the Cittadinanzattiva program and the guide highlight the importance of not “letting down your guard”, continuing to monitor the evolution of Covid-19, maintaining and enhancing the health services built in these three years and investing in the prevention of illness. “Some procedures and technologies that have been useful to us in the pandemic emergency must be implemented stably in the health services – comments Valeria Fava, Head of Health Policy Coordination of Cittadinanzattiva – to improve life and reduce health risks due to Covid -19 especially for the most fragile people”.
