Agenas report, Bolzano leads the Emergency-Urgency Network. Campania is bad

The latest National survey on the state of implementation of time-dependent networks has shown varying performances across different regions in Italy. According to the survey conducted by Agenas in 2023, the autonomous province of Bolzano has emerged as the leader in terms of assistance and care, followed by positive results in Veneto and Lombardy.

However, the South, particularly regions like Sardinia and Campania, has shown worse performances, with Campania ranking last in the survey. Additionally, critical issues were also identified in the Aosta Valley. The survey highlighted high waiting times in the majority of regions and a concerning number of patients abandoning emergency rooms, especially in Campania, Sardinia, and Sicily.

When it comes to the Cardiology Network, the survey revealed Marche, Tuscany, and Emilia-Romagna as the most virtuous regions, while Calabria, Sicily, and Valle d’Aosta ranked at the bottom.

In terms of stroke assistance, the survey evaluated the 30-day mortality rate after hospitalization, with positive performances noted in Bolzano, Emilia-Romagna, and Liguria. Valle d’Aosta, Molise, and Basilicata occupied the last positions in the rankings.

Francesco Saverio Mennini, Head of the Department of Programming, Medical Devices, Medicines and Policies at the Ministry of Health, pointed out the lack of a national health plan since 2006 as a contributing factor to the performance gap between regions. He emphasized the importance of quickly attending to patients in their own territories within time-dependent networks and the need for greater homogeneity in organizational models across regions.
