A Volterra The first female “camp” in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence will be held from 24 to 30 July with the aim of training female students who are completing the fourth grade to open them “the way to the professions of the future”

There will be training sessions and workshops and the topics covered range from machine learning to deep learning, from natural language processing to facial recognition but above all the girls will be defined and trained to guarantee them the skills and jobs of the future in the field of Artificial Intelligence, robotics and cybersecurity.

It is a summer training school to offer young students the tools to be protagonists of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Attending the AIxGirls – Summer Tech Camp will offer them the opportunity to take part in a Study program which will also touch on the ethical, legal and practical aspects of new technologies.

A program focused on artificial intelligence and Data Science, which will offer girls the necessary skills to be an active part of change and overcome the limits of the digital gender gap and understand how to avoid cognitive and gender biases.

Will be held at the Siaf (International School of Higher Education) of Volterraa structure immersed in the suggestive Tuscan countryside and which hosts meetings and training activities.

Inside the school all the necessary services are provided: classrooms, workshops for teaching, accommodation, canteen, refreshment areas and outdoor spaces for moments of leisure.

The girls who are finishing the 4th year of high school they can ask to participate, simply by submitting the application no later than midnight of May 20, 2022.

They will be select 20 girls among the students from all over Italy who have sent their application and will be evaluated on the basis of:

  • final grade average of the third year of high school;
  • average marks in the first quarter of the fourth year;
  • participation in school initiatives and competitions dedicated to Stem subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics);
  • participation in Summer school and / or extracurricular activities in Italy or abroad;
  • attendance at English or other courses;
  • basic computer knowledge of coding;
  • motivation for participation in the Camp.

The site also reports any causes for exclusion, in particular the registration form for minors (duly completed and signed by a parent) and the information for the processing of personal data (signed at the bottom for acknowledgment) are mandatory.

How much does it cost?

The Camp is offered free of charge to the 20 girls who will be selected and participants will have the right to board and lodging at the school facility on the days of the camp (from 24 to 30 July). A shuttle to the school is also guaranteed from Pisa airport and Cecina station.

Registration for AIxGIRLS – Summer Tech Camp is very simple, just fill out an online form and attach the authorization signed by the parent in the case of underage candidates.
