An Ai viewer to see better inside yourself

A project entitled “I live the present and face the future”, promoted by the Uildm section of Sassari, dedicated to the psychological well-being of people with disabilities, is starting in Sardinia. The laboratory, which will involve 20 people identified among the Section’s members and through the network of associations dealing with disabilities, with the help of a psychologist, includes a series of immersive experiences using virtual reality viewers.

The initiative, carried out in collaboration with the Uildm of Monza which has already proposed the project to its members, has obtained funding from the Roche Foundation, will involve 20 young men and women with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and spinal muscular atrophy.

“I live the present and face the future” is designed to bring to life real stories of transformation, engaging and multi-sensory metaphorical experiences, amplified by immersion in a virtual reality, which help in growing awareness of thoughts, emotions and behaviors linked to one’s condition.

The project is structured in four virtual reality workshops for emotional management conducted by an expert psychologist, which will take place in September in Uildm Holiday Home in Platamona (SS). Innovative methods of augmented psychology and augmented well-being will be used.

Together with the activities with the visors, a help desk and psychological support will be launched for the beneficiaries of the project and their families. «“I live the present and face the future” also intends to provide information on Duchenne muscular dystrophy and SMA through the creation of videos that will tell what it means to be born, grow up and live with these pathologies, starting from the stories and voices of our protagonists» declares Gigliola Serra, president of Uildm Sassari «The story and the testimony are a fundamental part of this journey because they allow those who listen – people with neuromuscular diseases and their families – to find common elements in their experience and to feel accompanied. I want to thank the Uildm Section of Monza for the support and sharing of their skills in the construction of this project».
