Antibiotic resistance, first patient treated in Italy with the virus that ‘kills’ bacteria

She was able to walk without crutches again, after years of pain and constant care that was never resolved. This is a 62-year-old patient who had a chronic infection of the prosthetic hip that was resistant to antibiotics. The woman is the first person in Italy treated with phagotherapy (or phage therapy), a treatment based on the use of bacteriophages – or phages for short.
