Ardem Patapoutian, who is one of the scientists who won the 2021 Nobel Prize for Medicine

54 years old, born in Lebanon, where he studied at the American university, Ardem Patapoutian is now a molecular biologist and neuroscientist at Scripps Research in La Jolla, California.

Emigrated to the United States in 1986, his discoveries on touch receptors – defined as revolutionary during the announcement of the award ceremony – have allowed us to understand how heat, cold and mechanical force interact with our nerve impulses that allow us to perceive the outside world and to adapt to it.
