Authorities in Rimini have uncovered a criminal conspiracy aimed at trafficking doping substances, including those with narcotic effects, harmful to public health. Three individuals have been sent to prison, while eight others have been asked to report to the judicial police as part of an ongoing investigation.
The investigating judge of Rimini issued 11 personal precautionary measures at the request of the prosecutor’s office, following investigations conducted by Nas. Among those implicated in the case are professionals from the fitness and nutrition industries, particularly in bodybuilding, as well as managers of gyms and commercial establishments specializing in food supplements.
The organized group is said to have its base in San Marino with extensive international connections for the supply of active ingredients. Raw materials, such as anabolic steroids, stimulants, anorectics, and erectile dysfunction products, were reportedly sourced from China and brought into Italy via Germany as powders. These substances were then assembled in clandestine laboratories by a small group of suppliers to create mixes of doping products, which posed serious health risks.
The final products were stored in a warehouse in San Marino before being shipped out through unsuspecting couriers to various local vendors across the national territory. The group’s operation has been described as sophisticated and well-coordinated, with a network that spanned multiple countries.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter, working to dismantle the organization and bring those involved to justice. The case serves as a reminder of the dangers posed by illegal trafficking of substances harmful to public health and underscores the importance of vigilance in combating such criminal activities.
