The party for the first anniversary of the Circolo del Melograno di San Prospero, the meeting center of the Mirandola district, took place in recent days. Aimed at people with mild to moderate cognitive disorders and residents in the nine municipalities of the Northern Area, the center in Via Olmo offers the opportunity to socialize, do cognitive and motor activities, and have significant relationship experiences. The activities are chosen based on the participants’ proposals and are conducted by a psychologist, two occupational therapists and a psychiatric rehabilitation therapist assisted by volunteers from the associations and family members.
In 2023, around 60 people accessed the centre, taking part in the numerous activities offered, with an average daily presence on the opening days of around 20 people, some accompanied by family members.
The Circolo del Melograno, promoted by ASP Municipalities of Modena Northern Area, Union of Modena Municipalities of the Northern Area, Municipality of Mirandola, Local Health Authority and the ASDAM and AVO associations, is part of the MeetingDem project (European network of Meeting Centers) which has as its objectives to spread the concept of Meeting Center, exchange knowledge and collaborate in international scientific research in the field of dementia.
